It happens. I think people who really think about it, fear growing up. That’s perfectly reasonable.
I have lost track of the number of times you kids have said you aren’t good at adulting or tired of adulting. It’s like complaining about falling down while you are walking well enough to get somewhere else.
You don’t have to do it all at once, and it’s not as if you will wake up one day and–BOOM–you are 100% adult.
Total adults are actually pretty rare. It’s easy to squint and see the toddler in front of you at the office or the swagger of a twelve year old inside a forty year old man about town.
I hope that if you want to try to be 100% adult, you will. Try, that is.
You will be an interesting grown-up, and a very interesting one if you work hard at it.
